‘Inhumans’ Poster Teases Black Bolt’s Original Costume And Journey From Attilan

When fans spotted Black Bolt on the set of Marvel's The Inhumans, they noticed one element of his costume was missing: the white accents. Anson Mount wears a tight leather suit in all black from head to toe. Black Lightning’s costume looks even more like Black Bolt from the comics. However, Marvel has released the first teaser poster for the IMAX movie-turned-series and it features the classic white patterned logo and accents usually found on the chest of Black Bolt’s costume.

Aside from that cool little shout out, the teaser, titled “Go Beyond,” reiterates the fact the series will take place mostly on Earth, though we may at least get a glimpse of Attilan while learning about the Inhumans’ origins. The view of Earth on the poster appears to be from the moon’s perspective, where Attlian is located. The Inhuman Royal Family is forced to escape Attilan and end up in Hawaii after a military coup on their home planet.

At first, it was thought maybe Hawaii was doubling for another location. However, the latest synopsis confirmed that is not the case. It’s an nice change of pace for a superhero TV series, considering most of them take place in big cities.

Inhumans were first introduced on Agents of SHIELD with Skye, who goes through terrigenesis, becomes Quake and discovers her inhuman origins. In AoS, some Inhumans temporarily reside in a hidden city on Earth, Afterlife, which is located somewhere near China. So it’s clear these two shows may approach Inhumans at least a little bit differently and we don’t yet know if The Inhuman Royal Family knows about Inhumans on Earth.

However, the Kree origins of Inhumans will stay the same. The Inhumans who exist on AoS are all descendants of the Kree's original test subjects and transform once exposed to terrigen. A photo from two months ago from the Inhumans set , which features Kree script on display, proves everything is somehow connected.

It looks similar to the Monolith from AoS . The Monolith was a portal made of a malleable material of ancient kree origins with connections to the planet Maveth. In AoS , due to the influence of HYDRA, the Monolith posed a serious danger to Inhumans. HYDRA had been sending people through the Monolith as sacrifices to a god they worship called Hive. Daisy’s mother, an inhuman named Jiaying, told SHIELD her elders knew of a myth claiming the Monolith could destroy every Inhuman on Earth. So you have to wonder why this statue is being put on display in The Inhumans.
