The competition is done and the Hearthstone Masters Tour Orgrimmar has crowned its new champion: Gabriel “Gaby” Jeanne. In a match that would go the distance, Gaby defeated Torben “Viper” Wahl and took home $25,000 in prize money and 22 Masters Tour Points. That’s not all as he also becomes the youngest Masters Tour champion.
Gaby's road to victory started by getting a 7–2 standing in the Swiss Rounds. In the Round of 16, he faced off against David “Frenetic” Quiñones, the Masters Tour 2020 Montreal champion. Many people were probably placing their bets on Frenetic. But Gaby defied the odds and won the match 3–2. This sealed Gaby’s entry to the Top 8.
In the quarterfinals against Liu “RNGLys” Shuda, Gaby started strong by taking the first two games. RNGLys though managed to grab a win in Game 3 and prevented a sweep. Gaby decided to stay with his Rogue deck in Game 4 and that got him the win.
For the semifinals, Gaby faced a big hurdle against another French player, Zakarya “xBlyzes” Hail. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because xBlyzes won not only the Masters Tour 2020 Arlington but also the Masters Tour 2020 Los Angeles.
Once again Gaby had a strong start by taking the first two games. Like what happened in the previous game, xBlyzes was able to stave off elimination with a win in Game 3. However, it seems Gaby was on a roll as he won Game 4 and moved to the final.
In the final, Viper “broke” the trend by winning Game 1. Gaby then went on to win the next two games that gave him a 2–1 lead. Viper followed a win in Game 4 to tie the series and push for the deciding Game 5. There was no stopping Gaby though as he pushed back and grabbed the championship.
