Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Blackbird Interactive announced the PS5 and Xbox Series versions for Hardspace: Shipbreaker, the scrapper space simulation title currently available on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. The Hardspace: Shipbreaker PS5 and Xbox Series versions are coming this September 20, while a separate release has also been announced for Xbox Game Pass. To celebrate the coming of the game to consoles, Focus Entertainment unveiled a new trailer which you can check out below.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker was first released on PC on May 24, 2022, but even before that, the game was in early access since June 16, 2020. The game is best described as a (fairly) realistic and immersive space salvaging simulator where players take the role of a salvager tasked with breaking down defunct ships in space.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker thrusts players into LYNX, self-described as the solar system’s lead in spaceship salvaging. Players take the role of an unnamed working-class spaceship salvager who has been chosen by the company to partake in its operations. It helps that players also have a fairly large debt that they need to pay off, totaling 1,252,594,441.92 credits owed to LYNX.

The game features various modes of play, including a compelling campaign that follows the journey of your debt-ridden character. Players can also take it at their own pace in free play, where they’re free to break down ships and salvage as they please. On the other end of the spectrum, a timed competitive mode is also available for those looking for a great challenge in patience and skill.

The gameplay of Hardspace: Shipbreaker consists mostly of managing your time effectively and dismantling ships accordingly. Some parts of the defunct behemoths need to be dismantled in order, lest it blows something up within the ship and takes you along with it. With each part successfully dismantled, your salvager earns more credits to finally pay off that huge billion credit debt.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker allows players to utilize a wide variety of tools to safely salvage even the largest of ships. However, they would need to contend with different working hazards like explosive decompression, fuel and electricity consumption, and of course the latent radiation given off by the ship.
