GTA Online is adding its first heist since the game mode launched in 2015. The Doomsday Heist is the biggest GTA Online adventure to date, and is now available to play on all consoles.

The Doomsday Heist opens with a billionaire and his advanced neural network stumbling upon clues that Los Santos is under imminent threat from an unknown country. Lester gets involved, and calls you and your pals to help save the day (and get a sweet paycheck).

To start The Doomsday Heist, players must have an assembled Motorcycle Club or Organization. Someone in the group also needs to purchase one of the underground IAA facilities, with the cheapest coming in at around GTA$1.2 Million. This facility includes an advanced planning room, something fancy apartments don’t have. Rockstar says every mission in The Doomsday Heist can be completed with only two people, unlike other heists, or with four if you have a full group of friends online.

Unlike other heists,The Doomsday Heist requires players to play through minor missions in Freeplay mode. During these missions, teams collect and steal resources from each other for later missions. When tackling these objectives, players can call in recruits from their Motorcycle Club, bringing the total number of players involved to eight.

Because the heist requires the purchase of an IAA facility, those who buy the facility will have access to the Avenger. This experimental helicopter/cargo vehicle comes packed with turrets, optional vehicle upgrades and a weapon station that includes some new upgrades for older weapons.

The Doomsday Heist also includes eight new Achievements/Trophies players earn by completing the Elite Challenge objectives for the heist missions. These typically require players to perform some hard task like hit a certain number of headshots during the mission or finishing under a certain time limit.

Additionally, this update will introduce a number of new clothing and character customization options. Rockstar says there are new vehicles and weapons coming as well as the long-awaited Mammoth Thruster jetpack. There’s also a new radio station to pump some tunes, but Rockstar didn’t say what genre of music the station is, or what new artists will be featured.

So what do you think? Are you excited to get your crew together to tackle the Doomsday Heist? Do you have some work to do so you can afford one of those IAA facilities? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
