Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 will premiere Sept. 22. ABC announced its fall premiere lineup Tuesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The Season 12 finale has set up the coming season for a host of drama-filled arcs. The finale ended with Owen and Amelia getting married, following an extreme bout of cold feet from Amelia. Meredith stands in as Amelia’s family support since her own family refused to attend the wedding and despite the fact that Amelia is marrying her best friend’s ex-husband.

Meredith and Dr. Nathan Riggs also expressed feelings for one another, after hooking up in a prior Season 12 episode.

April went into labor amid the pre-wedding hullaballoo. She and Ben were trapped at Meredith’s house during a huge thunderstorm and unable to get to the hospital. Ben was forced to perform a C-Section on April without anesthesia, on Meredith’s kitchen table. Thankfully, mother and baby survived. Chief of Surgery Miranda Bailey is finally able to forgive her husband, Ben, for major mistakes he made during his residency.

Season 12 was the first not to feature Patrick Dempsey as Dr. Derek Shepherd since the character’s death in the end of Season 11. Meredith spent much of Season 12 navigating her life as a widow; however, Season 13 will likely explore her budding relationship with Nathan Riggs. But in true Grey’s Anatomy fashion, there will be some conflict, as Meredith’s half-sister, Maggie is convinced that Riggs has a thing for her.

Season 13 will likely also follow Owen and Amelia’s first year of marriage (this would be a great time for Cristina Yang to pop up). April and Jackson will also face their first year as parents. At this time the two are still divorced. While the Season 12 finale suggests the two may have some sort of reconciliation, it remains uncertain whether they will get back together or co-parent their daughter separately.

Sara Ramirez, who has played Dr. Callie Torres since Season 2, will not participate in Season 13. The actress announced her exit from the show in May. Torres’ story arc ended as she reconciled with her ex-wife, Arizona Robbins, after they suffered a heated custody battle of their daughter Sophia.
