It was back in April of this year when Capcom first revealed that The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was arriving in the US. Back then, we had a peek at what the game has to offer. This time, Capcom released a trailer that gives us a more in-depth look not only at the core gameplay but also at some of the new gameplay mechanics.

Before reading on, take time to view the trailer below:

As shown by the trailer, players take on the role of an aspiring attorney by the name of Ryunosuke Naruhodo. For those wondering, he is an ancestor of none other than courtroom legend Phoenix Wright. Helping him solve cases is his legal aid, Susato Mikatoba, and the great detective of London, Herlock Sholmes.

Core Gameplay

The core gameplay of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is pretty much what fans of the series can expect, which means Investigations and Courtroom Battles. Investigations have players take a look at the scene of the crime to gather evidence, talk to witnesses, and search for clues.

Players can look forward to “Dance of Deduction” where they team up with Sholmes. The great detective has a tendency to come out with outlandish conclusions and it’s up to players to correct Sholmes to dig up the truth.

Meanwhile, in Courtroom Battles, players need to make their case, present evidence, and question important witnesses, to get the “Not Guilty” verdict. A new feature is “Summation Examination” where players need to identify the inconsistencies in the statements of the jurors to move the case forward.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is scheduled to be released on July 27 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game is being offered in two versions, Standalone and the Ace Attorney Turnabout Collection, which has The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy. This gives you access to a total of five games.

Preorder is now available and doing so rewards “From the Vaults.” This features 25 additional pieces of art for the Gallery along with 29 extra pieces of music for the Auditorium.
