Publisher and developer miHoYo has just announced that the final closed beta test for their upcoming open-world action RPG Genshin Impact will be starting soon. Scheduled for July 2, Genshin Impact is set to release for the PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android.

Genshin Impact is an open-world action role-playing title set in the vast fantasy world of Tevyat. Players assume the role of the unnamed mysterious “Traveler” who is setting off on a journey to find their lost sibling. Along the way, the Traveler will uncover many mysteries and meet colorful characters in the land of Tevyat.

The final closed beta will unveil two of the seven major cities in Tevyat as playable locations, which are the majestic free city of Mondstadt, located in the northeast of Tevyat, and the busy and bountiful Liyue Harbor, located on the eastern coast. These cities have a number of explorable features such as Cider Lake and Dawn WInery in Mondstadt, or the Wangshu Inn and Mt. Tianheng in the Liyue region.

Both locations will be teeming with characters that the player character will meet and interact with. Starting off, players will only be accompanied by the adorable and trusty Paimon, but soon enough they will be able to recruit a number of characters, each with their own unique traits, personalities, combat styles, and abilities that can be used to your party’s advantage. Players can form up to a four-person party by inviting their friends to their world.

Combat-wise, Genshin Impact is played from a third-person perspective. Characters all have their own weapons and specialties and can harness control of one of the seven natural elements. The key to defeating the largest and most dangerous monsters that Tevyat has to offer is coordination of these elemental attacks to produce different combat effects and chain reactions.

The final closed beta will also include English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese character voiceovers for a fully immersive audio experience.

Genshin Impact is set to release for the PlayStation4, PC, iOS, and Android in 2020. A Nintendo Switch version is also in the works, but no release date has been confirmed yet.
