A new gameplay trailer for side-scrolling beat-em up Streets of Rage 4 has just been unveiled, showcasing a new character. Along with the trailer came the announcement of its multiplatform release in 2020.

Published by Dotemu and developed in cooperation with Lizardcube and Guardcrush Games, Streets of Rage 4 is the latest in the longrunning franchse with origins dating back to an arcade brawler released by Sega in the 1990s. Known for its continuous action and electronic music, it has received cult classic status and has received acclaim for its gameplay and its soundtrack scored by Yuzo Koshiro and Motohira Kawashima.

Streets of Rage 4 is set where the original game trilogy left off, following the adventures of protagonists Axel and Blaze. This time, they will be accompanied by guitar-wielding warrior named Cherry Hunter. Trained by her father and Axel in self-defense from a very young age, Cherry will now kick ass and take names in Wood Oak City with the help of her trusty electric guitar.

The game featuresand a fresh story, a slew of dangerous stages plagued with a serious crime problem, improvement on classic gameplay mechanics. Don’t worry though, the iconic braised chicken on a plate will still be present, this time fully animated through hand-drawn graphics by the studio behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.

Streets of Rage 4 will launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2020.
