It’s almost August, which means Microsoft has announced the free games coming to Xbox Live subscribers over the next few weeks. While the Xbox One games aren’t the most exciting, there are some solid picks in the Xbox 360 department that make this month an exciting month for gaming overall.

Xbox One

The first game coming for Xbox One in August is Slime Rancher. This game is a first-person… uh, I’m not sure what I would classify this game as. You go around collecting slimes for your ranch, grow food and power up your critters, but you also have to explore and watch out for dangerous slimes on the way. Slime Rancher will be free to download from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31.

The second Xbox One game is Trials Fusion. This game is one of many in the long series of Trials games, and keeps the tried-and-true formula of the franchise going strong. This means you can expect plenty of physics-based platforming while driving around on a motocross bike. Trials Fusion will be available from Aug. 16 to Sept. 15.

Xbox 360

The first Xbox 360 game coming for free to Xbox Live subscribers in August is the cult-hit Bayonetta. This action game sees players take on the role of a witch who strings together powerful combos using her hair and the guns she has hidden in her high-heel shoes. Bayonetta is available to download from Aug. 1 to Aug. 15.

The last game included in the August Games With Gold offerings is Red Faction: Armageddon. Set 50 years after the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla, humans have been forced to live underground on Mars. Don’t worry though, as there are still plenty of destructible objects hidden below the planet’s surface. Red Faction: Armageddon will be free to download from Aug. 16 to Aug. 31.

So what do you think? Are you excited to download and play any of the free games in August? What do you hope is included in next month’s Games With Gold offerings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
