After a year of hoaxed leaks and high hopes, Game of Thrones Season 6 looks like it’s approaching its endgame without Lady Stoneheart. In George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series, Lady Stoneheart is the vengeful, undead Catelyn Stark, returned to life to kill anyone who so much as poured wine at the Red Wedding that took the life of her son, Robb Stark, wannabe King in the North. Since Lady Stoneheart has been kicking around Westeros since the third book and Game of Thrones is busy adapting the unreleased sixth, it’s been widely assumed that the show had skipped her over. But the next episode, Season 6 episode 8 “No One,” presents the best (and maybe the last) opportunity to introduce Lady Stoneheart to the TV world of Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 7, “The Broken Man,” saw the return of Sandor “The Hound” Clegane. After a brief flirtation with a hippie commune, the episode’s end found The Hound once against on a bloody path, determined to take vengeance against those who killed his friends.

We’ve seen the ones responsible on Game of Thrones before. They’re known as the Brotherhood Without Banners and they’re led by “Lightning Lord” Beric Dondarrion, who has been repeatedly brought back to life by the magic of Red Priest Thoros of Myr. The preview for “No One” gives us a brief glimpse at The Hound swinging an ax, presumably at a member of the Brotherhood.

In the novel A Storm of Swords, Beric Dondarrion gives his life (or what’s left of it) to resurrect Catelyn Stark as Lady Stoneheart. Will The Hound find Lady Stoneheart in charge of the Brotherhood Without Banners? One actor who plays a member of the Brotherhood has certainly been hinting at the possibility:

Considering The Hound’s last sword fight with Beric Dondarrion was one of Game of Thrones’ best, it should be a fun encounter either way. But considering that this next episode is likely to spell the end of the Brotherhood Without Banners (Sandor Clegane isn’t very good at losing), it looks like “No One” will be the last good opportunity for Game of Thrones to introduce Lady Stoneheart.
