Announced Apr. 1 at the Funimation Industry Panel at AnimeBoston, Funimation has acquired Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic for limited theatrical release later this year.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic is a follow up to the “Book of Murder” arc. The movie is directed by Noriyuki Abe (Yu Yu Hakusho , Bleach) and produced by A-1 Pictures ( Black Butler , Blue Exorcist , Sword Art Online ). Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic features character design from Black Butler designer Minako Shiba as well.

Via press release:

“Ciel Phantomhive and his demonic butler, Sebastian, are back! And this next case has Ciel and Sebastian treading some rough waters. Aboard the luxury liner Campania, the two investigate an illegal human experiment that involves resurrecting the dead. But the closer they get to the truth, the closer they are to their own deaths! Will this be their final case or will one hell of a butler keep them afloat?”

The film is rated TV-14 with a 90 minute runtime, so plan your brunches well. Theatrical dates are yet to be announced. The film’s website is here but is currently a placeholder.

In other Black Butler news, if you have a spare $300 bucks or so, you too could be the proud owner of a Ciel-inspired teddy bear based on Ciel’s appearance in Book of the Atlantic . Made by German teddy bear maker Steiff, the limited production items are scheduled for an Oct. 2017 shipping date. Happy Halloween!
