The Frozen 2 release date is coming! Frozen 2 is coming! It’s real, it’s not a drill, it’s happening! You obviously already know that, hot on the heels of “Frozen Fever,” Disney officially confirmed Frozen 2 just recently, but the details remain pretty scarce… especially regarding the most important ingredient, the cast. Let’s take a rundown on why you don’t really have to be worried.

The Frozen 2 Release Date: Obviously Fast-Tracked

Frozen 2 isn’t a surprise. It was a definite thing. After all, Frozen is the most successful animated movie ever—ever! A sequel was only a matter of time. The questions we have to ask ourselves, though, don’t involve that inevitability. Will Frozen 2 be good? Does it have the ingredients we need to make it good? There are basically three of those things: The cast, the directors, and the songwriters.

The Frozen 2 Cast: By Far The Most Important Ingredient

I think most people, or at least most people’s kids, agree that the voices are a critical part of what makes Frozen so good. I mean, every Disney movie has a character like Olaf. And usually that character is terrible. Just look at Eddie Murphy’s role in Mulan:

Now compare that to Olaf:

The voice acting by Josh Gad is, like, 80 percent of what makes Olaf great instead of super annoying. Even with the exact same writing and directing, a terrible voice would ruin this character. So the cast matters. Thankfully, we already know that Josh Gad is returning as Olaf. And, via Polygon, this tweet from Kristen Bell pretty much confirms she’s in it:

As for Idina Menzel, who played Elsa, and the rest of the cast, we don’t have official word yet. Here’s the thing, though: Disney knows it needs this cast back. And none of them are wildly famous, outside of Frozen itself. And Disney has deep pockets. I am certain they will all be coming back, come hell or high water.

As for the rest… we know that directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are also returning, so no worries on that front. They even have a story in mind already (don’t get excited—we don’t know what it is)! The third key element: the songwriters. They aren’t officially on board yet, but considering they did “Frozen Fever” happily enough, I wouldn’t worry too much about it: They’ll be back too.

And that means we’ll have all the elements we need. Directors, songwriters, a great story and the same great cast. Now we just have to cross our fingers that lightning can indeed strike twice. We don’t know when Frozen 2 will come out yet, but the whole world will be watching.
