Forza Horizon 5 may have just been launched last year but its latest DLC is sure to give some players that nostalgic feeling. The Hot Wheels DLC is here and there’s a lot to enjoy.
Players can start their journey by finding the Hot Wheels Expedition icon in Mexico’s Gran Caldera. This rather high-speed introduction to the Horizon Hot Wheels Park is but a taste of what players can expect from this new world of racing.
Join the Academy
Becoming a Hot Wheels Legends is not going to be an easy task. Players need to show that they have what it takes to master the extreme speeds in Hot Wheels Park. After that, they can progress to faster and faster car classes. To make this happen, players can enlist in the Hot Wheels Academy. It's going to introduce a new progression system divided into five tiers with its own missions, events, and of course, rewards.
All players begin in the Rookie Rank with B Class cars. Players can complete Missions to earn Hot Wheels Medals as well as fill the Rank meter. Each Rank comes with a set of Major and Minor Missions which consists of races, PR Stunts, and unique challenges. These reward Medals, new cars, and valuable bonuses like car horns and cosmetics.
The Medals earned can be used to unlock new Qualifier events and let players prove their driving ability to move to the next Hot Wheels Rank in their journey. These include Pro (A Class), Expert (S1 Class), Elite (S2 Class), and Legend (X Class).
By the way, the races in Horizon Hot Wheels Park are divided into Speed and Hazard events. Speed Races are for high-speed track racing, and Hazard Races uses biomes to take the action off-road.
Race with Friends and the Community
The Hot Wheels DLC also features various options for online play. For the first time, players can now join friends and play the entire expansion from the very start in co-op. Players can also team up and race Drivatars in Horizon Tour or compete against the world in Horizon Open with Open Racing, Custom Racing, Leaderboards, and Badges.
