Am I fan of Supergirl ? No, not particularly. Dare I admit I did give a few recent episodes a chance, but purely because The Flash and Arrow were on mid-season break. I’d go so far to say I'd prefer DC’s Legends of Tomorrow over Supergirl, which says a lot (clearly White Canary and Wentworth Miller broke the tie there). Supergirl isn’t the worst show, but it lacks flavor. The Flash put a bandaid on Supergirl’s wounds in “Worlds Finest,” which made it the best episode of the series thus far. Meanwhile, for the one million Flash fans that tuned in, the episode was a complete waste of 40 minutes.

Grant Gustin brought out the best in the Supergirl cast, particularly Melissa Benoist. If you’ve never watched Supergirl, you will enjoy the playful, silly banter between the two DC superheroes. But for Flash fans, this is nothing new -- we have Cisco. Supergirl and The Flash are the most light hearted heroes on TV right now, so in that respect the episode was fun. The first half was significantly better than the latter. Barry and Kara meeting for the first time was spot on. The Flash just randomly shows up and each is flabbergasted the other exists. We get this cool, fresh, “just two superheroes hanging out” vibe that we don’t get on the heavier-toned CW and ABC shows.

The storyline wasn't all that compelling, but I loved seeing Silver Banshee and Livewire on screen. The mystery behind how The Flash actually gets to National City was what I was looking forward to the most. However, that wasn’t clearly addressed in the episode, nor in the Flash episode that preceded the crossover. It’s clear Barry used the Tachyon device to somehow cross the multiverse, but the fact he appears just in time to save Supergirl… come on. We will definitely get some answers in tonight’s episode of The Flash, “Flash Back,” but I can’t imagine the events of “Worlds Finest” will come into play at all, seeing that the Supergirl episode didn’t tie in any important details from The Flash. So, what’s the point of a crossover if the two shows don’t connect?

The whole crossover across networks idea was awesome, and a pretty huge success for Supergirl, but this episode came off like a last ditch attempt to attract more viewers. For the fans asking about a Supergirl cameo on The Flash, I’m not feeling it. However, it'd probably be better than Supergirl hosting The Flash. Supergirl and her teenage angst wouldn't fit in on Earth 1. It'd be safer for her to stay on Earth-CBS.
