On Wednesday, Square Enix announced another tantalizing tweak coming to Final Fantasy XV as part of the Holiday Pack DLC / Moogle Chocobo Festival event on Jan. 24: the ability to take selfies whenever you like, outside of battle.

Square Enix didn’t provide any details about how the DIY selfie function will work, so it’s not clear yet whether players will be able to snap pics with a single button (essentially like a screenshot), or if you’ll have the ability to pose your chocobros, select filters and otherwise customize your portraits to your heart’s content. We also don’t know if taking selfies will raise Prompto’s photography skill, or if the update will also expand the maximum photo inventory over 150, though it would certainly be nice if both these things were the case.

One thing we did learn from Squeenix's brief update is the Moogle Chocobo Festival event will be the same for those who paid for the Season Pass and those who did not. You can rest easy (for now), frugal gamers.

A new trailer detailing the Moogle Chocobo Festival event dropped over the weekend, showing a glimpse of the city of Altissia in its celebratory finery, and giving fans a look at the two new outfits created for the event, the Choco-Mog Tee (part of the free Holiday Pack DLC) and the Festive Ensemble (available to those who paid for the Season Pass with the Holiday Pack + DLC).

We don’t yet know the stat boosts either costume will provide, but you can check them out below. We can’t wait to see all four Chocobros in their Festive Ensembles, in full mariachi band mode. The photo-op possibilities truly are endless.

REVIEW SUMMARY
Final Fantasy XV
8.5
Combat, Plot, Characters Create Something Flawed, Beautiful, Fantastic
Despite it's flaws, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
  • Engaging main cast of characters
  • Fun, fast-paced combat
  • A massive, beautiful world to explore
  • The Regalia!
  • Continuous updates have addressed some shortcomings of the initial release
  • Major aspects of the story feel rushed or absent, particularly toward the end of the game
  • Stealth sequences feel out of place
