Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Now Out for the PlayStation 5

The latest chapter in the Final Fantasy VII remake project is finally here. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been launched worldwide and now available for the PlayStation 5.

The game has players take on the role of mercenary Cloud Strife as he, along with his comrades, go after the legendary swordsman Sephiroth. These unlikely heroes join forces with new companions that include the spirited ninja operative Yuffie and the wisecracking, feline-shaped robot Cait Sith. Get ready for an unforgettable experience that's filled with unexpected twists, memorable characters and even jaw-dropping set pieces which not only longtime fans but also newcomers can enjoy.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake project started with the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake back in 2020. It has since become the highest-selling digital release on the PlayStation platform with more than 7 million units shipped around the world.

Statement from the Team

Producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed in a statement that when he served as the director of the original Final Fantasy VII, he felt proud of being able to introduce role-playing games to a new generation. He added that he feels that "same sense of pride" with what they've accomplished with this new title.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi meanwhile shared that the game isn't just a labor of love for them but also a tribute to adventure. Like what they've done with Final Fantasy VII, he said that they've been able to reach for something that wasn't possible before.

Finally for Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, he has long wonder what the remake would look like. He said that he knew that they to do justice not just to the characters but also the characters that's loved by a lot of fans.

Free Demo

For those not yet sure if the game is for them, they can try the two-part demo which is available free. It gives access to the opening chapter of the game along with a special preview of the massive in-game world. The first part of the demo is titled "Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim" with those who complete it getting the Kupo Charm and Survival Set demo along with the option to skip the section when they get the full game. The second part is "Dawn of a New Era in Junon."
