Final Fantasy 12 released its latest update for The Zodiac Age expansion. Features added include allowing players to reset licenses and creating multiple Gambit sets. This update is only available for the PC and PlayStation 4.

Reset License

In The Zodiac Age, licenses are basically jobs. Characters can assign a maximum of two licenses and they define what role characters take on in battle, such as knight, archer, and mage, among others.

In the past, once players chose a license for their character, that was it. With the reset option, players can now make changes, especially when they no longer like a setup. It’s also good for those who want to experiment.

To reset a license, players need to talk to Montblanc, who is in Rabanastre. Once that’s done, the Clan Centurio leader takes it from there.

Gambit Sets

The battle system of Final Fantasy 12 is essentially Gambits. These are sets of instructions that, while simple, are also precise. It defines how party members act in battle. One challenge of the system is not all setups work for each fight. This means that players need to change tactics depending on the situation.

With the new update, players can now store as many as three Gambit sets and Final Fantasy 12 now allows for a faster switch between them.

New OST Added

For PC and PS4 players, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age offers two music choices. There is the re-orchestrated soundtrack along with the original PS2 tracks. With the patch, players now have a third option, and this is none other than the original soundtrack from the PS2. This is similar to the PS2 version with the differences being that it offers higher quality sound plus a somewhat different arrangement for some songs.

Final Fantasy 12 is a RPG that was originally released to the PS2 in 2006. The many innovations it introduced to the series include the gambit system, a controllable camera, seamless battle system, and open world. Its first expansion was the Final Fantasy: International Zodiac Job System which was released exclusively to Japan. The Zodiac Age is a high-definition remaster of this expansion. It improved technical performance while also adding trophy support and a remastered soundtrack.
