Fight Crab, A Crab Fighting Game, Launches On Early Access

It's crabs armed with weapons fighting to the death, which is oddly enough not the strangest concept I've heard for a game.

If you’ve ever wondered how Skyrim’s infamous Mudcrabs feel when they nip and chase at the Dragonborn’s heels, then you’re in luck. The Japanese developer Nussoft Studios will soon be releasing Fight Crab on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. It has also recently celebrated its Early Access launch on itch.io by posting a teaser trailer that is equally as hilarious and surreal as their first one.

We do not know yet what the plot of Fight Crab is (crusteceans against consumerism, a la Fight Club) or if there even is a plot that we should look out for. All that’s known so far is that these crabs were granted ultimate strength and intelligence from unknown, generous gods. Using their newfound strength and wit, they have now started an uprising (perhaps as revenge for all the mukbang videos where their species was annihilated) and armed themselves with human weapons and took control of all the lands. Now holding immortal status, they roam the world with no known weaknesses, not even swords or guns. Or perhaps it’s just trying to cash into the fad of that Crab Rave song everyone was memeing a few months ago.

However, there is one caveat to their existence: “Those who are flipped onto their shells, shall be cooked into a crab cake, or mouth-watering rangoon.” Crabs who have embarrassingly been flipped over onto their shells will have no choice but to submit to the pot. The gameplay then revolves around you roaming the world aiming to be the best at flipping crabs.

As for what we’ve seen in the trailer so far, your legendary fights as the popular crustacean will take place in different locations such as huge city intersections or quiet and quaint alleyways. You can equip swords, guns, katanas, fans, lightsabers, rocket propelled drills, axes, and as seen in the trailer, a hammer that oddly looks like the mythical Mjolnir.

Currently still in itch.io Early Access, Fight Crab has 19 different crab species and 41 weapons to equip yourself with as of right now. No release date has been confirmed yet, but the game is expected to release within 2019 for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
