The story of Far Cry 6 is all about toppling the dictator Antón Castillo. However, this latest offering puts the focus on the game’s antagonist. Titled “Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution,” it’s a five-episode audio series that dives deep into Castillo’s backstory.

The audio series was actually developed in-step with the game and had Far Cry 6 Narrative Director Navid Khavari sharing his knowledge of the characters, as well as of Yara, to make sure that the stories of each character were authentic.

The goal of this narrative audio series was not only to introduce a new story to players but also continue to engage them by giving an in-depth look at the backgrounds which shaped the characters in the game.

Reprising Their Roles

As if that isn’t exciting enough, none other than Giancarlo Esposito, who voices Castillo in the game, reprised his role for this series. By the way, the series was written by Mexican script writer and filmmaker Alexandro Aldrete.

There are also other Far Cry 6 actors who reprised their roles in this series like Jess Salgueiro (Clara) and Anthony Gonzalez (Diego). Even the guerrilla Juan Cortez also makes an appearance, voiced by Alex Fernandez.

The Rise of the Dictator

The audio series offers a story which spans decades that rotates between the perspectives of Antón Castillo, his son Diego, and Libertad leader Clara García. It gives players a look into Antón’s childhood growing up as a political prisoner and dreaming to become the El Presidente much like his father. Initially, it seems that his dreams are put on hold due to a leukemia diagnosis. However, the miracle drug Viviro gives Antón the needed path forward.

Meanwhile, the lengths that Antón is willing to go to produce this miracle drug shocks Diego who simply wants an escape to his lonely life and attend Máximas Matanzas shows. Finally, the audio series also shares the backstory of Clara and how an upper-class Yaran who started as a journalist went on to become the leader of a rebellion.

According to Etienne Bouvier of Ubisoft, this new audio series gave them the chance to dive deep into the internal thoughts of the three characters and understand their motivations. He added that it also allowed them to rediscover Yara and its history through an entertaining and action-packed story.
