After almost two months, we finally get a clear picture of what's being planned in Fallout 76 for 2022. There are four big happenings and the first is truly out of this world.

This spring, otherworldly forces are making their presence felt in Appalachia. Invaders from Beyond goes live when the new update drops March 1. There are many new public events to expect and even random encounters. This upcoming seasonal event is currently in PTS. Details include:

  • Every hour on the hour an Alien Mothership appears above one of several high-profile Appalachian locations to deploy three Brainwave Siphons in the area.
  • Players need to travel to the Mothership’s location and examine Siphon Kappa to start the event.
  • Once the event begins, players must destroy all three Brainwave Siphons, one after the other, before the aliens can complete their Brainwave Extraction process.
  • Each Siphon is protected by a force field, which is controlled by a different Alien Commander.
  • Defeat alien forces to draw out the Commander for each Siphon.
  • Take out the Commander and the force field drops. This allows players to destroy the Siphon.
  • Those able to destroy all three Brainwave Siphons in time get some loot, XP, and a chance to earn plans to craft new alien weaponry and C.A.M.P. objects.
  • As long as this seasonal event is live, players may encounter extraterrestrial interlopers at select Public Events, including Campfire Tales, Free Range, and Line in the Sand.
  • Players can also spot the aliens in the new Random Encounters.

There's also an update for Fallout Worlds which gives players the ability to earn SCORE. Of course, it also means the start of Season 8: A Better Life Underground.

Other Events

When Summer rolls in, new Public Events become available. This includes Test Your Metal which features arena fights where players go against deadly automatons. Fallout 1st gets an upgrade to its scoreboard by this time, and a new season to enjoy.

By the time the leaves start dropping in fall, players are invited to go beyond the borders of Appalachia. Expeditions: The Pitt allows players to visit post-nuclear Pittsburgh. There will be new missions to take, new NPCs to engage, and new enemies to battle. Of course, there are also new rewards to enjoy. Expect to have a new season as well.

Finally, in Winter, the Fizziest Show on Earth arrives in Appalachia. The Nuka World on Tour sees a traveling roadshow making a stop in the area, bringing a new season. New Public Events are available, plus a region boss.

Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
