A new update is now live in Elden Ring which introduces a new multiplayer feature with Colosseum arenas. Game Version 1.08 not only ups the ante for PvP but also introduces new cosmetic options and new balance adjustments to improve gameplay stability.

The doors of the Colosseum open for the first time to offer a new challenge by unlocking three new arenas. Each arena has its own sets of rules that players need to follow.

The Limgrave Colosseum, for example, has two modes:

  • United Combat
    • Combatants are divided into two teams to fight in timed battles with the ability to respawn.
    • Each death and respawn gives points to the adversaries with the team having the highest score wins.
  • Combat Ordeal
    • It’s every Tarnished for themselves.
    • Combatants in this mode can also respawn until the timer hits zero.
    • The one with the most points is declared the victor.

Meanwhile, the Royal Colosseum located in Leyndell features Duel Mode where two Tarnished face off in a duel to the death without any ability to respawn. Finally, the Caelid Colosseum features all of the modes mentioned plus being able to summon Spirit Ashes to fight by the players’ side.

PvP Adjustments

Since the Colosseum offers a new PvP feature, there are balance adjustments exclusive to PvP, which include:

  • Reduced thrusting weapons counterattack damage.
  • Reduced guard efficiency when attacking with your shield up for some weapon types.
  • The poise damage of these weapons are reduced (Weapon Arts poise damage remains unchanged):
    • Straight Swords
    • Thrusting Swords
    • Heavy Thrusting Swords
    • Curved Swords
    • Axes
    • Spears
    • Twinblade Swords
    • Katanas
  • Reduced the poise damage of the Incantation Bestial Sling.
  • Reduced the power of the Spell Carian Slicer.

  • Increased the speed and distance of some attacks and reduced the recovery time for these weapons:
    • Daggers
    • Axes
    • Hammers
    • Flails (dual wielded)
  • Increased the speed of some attacks and reduced the recovery time for these weapons:
    • Twinblade (two-handed)
    • Reaper
    • Fist
    • Claw
  • Slightly increased the speed of crouching and rolling attacks of Colossal Swords.
