Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is releasing worldwide on Nintendo Switch on December 1. The game invites players on an epic adventure where they can recruit and command different types of monsters.

The game features the demon prince Psaro. He is cursed and it prevents him from harming any monsters. But because of this, he becomes a Monster Wrangler, someone who recruits and fights with monsters across different environments in Nadiria. During the adventure, players will see the season cycling through winter, spring, summer, and fall. This cycling not only alters the landscape but also opens new areas where players can encounter monsters specific to each season.

In his adventure, Psaro also meets the kind-hearted elf named Rose. She joins him on this adventure as they look for ever-stronger monsters.

Synthesis System

One of the most interesting game features is the synthesis system. It gives players the ability to combine monsters in their roster to come up with new ones. This allows them to experiment and unlock more than 500 monsters including dark lords, franchise favorites, and new creatures. Once they have assembled their dream roster, they can go online and fight against other Monster Wranglers no matter where they are in the world.

Dragon Quest Series

The game is part of the legendary Dragon Quest series. The first Dragon Quest was released in Japan in 1986 and eventually made its way to the US in 1989 under the title of Dragon Warrior. The series is celebrating its 37th anniversary this year and it currently holds different Guinness World Records including the "Longest-Running Japanese RPG Series."

The visionaries behind this series are Creator and Game Designer Yuji Horii, Character Designer Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball), and composer Koichi Sugiyama. The series has long enchanted long-time fans and newcomers because of enthralling storylines, captivating music, and charming visuals in each new entry.

Since the first title was released, at least 85 million units were shipped worldwide, with 11 main series titles and several spin-off games. The series has also made its way into other media like films, anime, novels, and manga.
