Square Enix is finally ready to announced Western launch plans for Dragon Quest Builders , the Minecraft -inspired sandbox game that hit Japan earlier this year, and the first English trailer for the game offers a rough idea of when we can expect Dragon Quest Builders to hit North America.
For those who may have missed the initial announcement, Dragon Quest Builders is a sandbox game set in the Dragon Quest universe. Much like last year’s Dragon Ball Xenoverse , which tasked players with repairing an altered timeline, Dragon Quest Builders drops players into the world of the original Dragon Quest . The game picks up after an alternate ending for the original game, in which Dragonlord takes control of the entire world, and it’s up to the player to rebuild the world of Alefgard and drive the evil ruler’s forces back out.
Unfortunately, the first trailer for Dragon Quest Builders doesn’t include any new information about the game or gameplay footage we haven’t seen before. The two minute preview does offer a bit of context, for those who weren’t previously familiar with the game, and some idea of what the basic gameplay loop will be like. But we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out if there will be any new or exclusive content in the Western versions of Dragon Quest Builders , along with other pertinent information (like potential Cross-Buy support) about the project.

Dragon Quest Builders is being developed for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The game is scheduled to debut in October.
