Super Saiyan 3 transformation confirmed for 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' Bandai Namco

The Nintendo Switch version of the popular fighting game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 , finally has a release date.

Bandai Namco revealed the Sept. 22 release date for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch via press release and reiterated some of the version-exclusive modes fans will see on the hybrid console. The biggest change from the PS4 and Xbox One is that up to six players will be able to fight in local multiplayer.

While the details on how this would work were not given, Bandai Namco did say multiple Nintendo Switches need to be present for this to work. Whether this would use a LAN play option or simply connect to other Nintendo Switches via a local wireless connection is unclear.

The other new feature for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Switch version is the use of the Joy Con controllers. Like other Switch titles, players can use one half of the Joy Con each to have multiplayer action.

However, players will also be able to use the Joy Cons to reenact some of Dragon Ball’s greatest fighting moves, including the Kamehameha and the Spirit Bomb. This function could be present during certain cutscenes in the story and we will update as soon as we learn more.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 released for PS4 and Xbox One in October 2016 and continued the story of the Time Patrollers, who protect the major moments in Dragon Ball history from those who look to alter the timeline and reap the benefits.

The sequel to the first Xenoverse game has more customizable avatar options, smoother and more fluid battles and has a ton more to do in terms of minigames and sidequests.

Bandai Namco announced another Dragon Ball game called Dragon Ball FighterZ during E3 2017. There are no plans for a Nintendo Switch version at present, but Bandai has stated that if there is enough fan outcry and support to get it on the console then they would consider it.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will release for Nintendo Switch Sept. 22.
