Dota 2 Releases Winter Update for Dota Plus Subscription

It may not be the Dota 2 update many players are waiting for, but it’s still sure to put a smile on some of them. We’re talking about the new Winter update for Dota Plus that Valve dropped yesterday. Today, we look at what this update brings for those who have the subscription.

The first big change is the addition of the Grandmaster Tier at level 30. Players who reached this mastery for a particular hero will get a new chat wheel voice for that hero. Also, completing hero challenges while in this new tier give out shards instead of hero XP.

With the arrival of the new tier, the update also enables the purchase of the Winter 2020 Seasonal Treasure. Exclusive to those who have the Dota Plus subscription, the treasure features new sets for:

  • Dragon Knight
  • Puck
  • Spirit Breaker
  • Templar Assassin
  • Earth Spirit
  • Vengeful Spirit
  • Luna
  • Necrophos
  • Undying
  • Ember Spirit
  • Centaur Warrunner

Members also get the chance to get the Very Rare Hermes Hermit the Crab courier. This one arrives preloaded with random prismatic as well as kinetic gems.

Additionally, the new Dota Plus Quests could bring extra shards for the Seasonal Treasure. Not to be excluded, Guild Rewards have been switched out as well. The rewards for each tier are:

  • Silver Tier Rewards:
    • :guildbanner: emoticon
    • :dazzle_shrug: emoticon
    • :pump_glad: emoticon
  • Gold Tier Rewards:
    • “Happy Tree” spray
    • “Earthshaker Dunk” spray
    • “Chicken” spray
  • Platinum Tier Rewards:
    • “The next level play!” chat wheel
    • “ 啊, 队 友呢? 队 友呢? 队 友呢?! 队 友呢?!?!” chat wheel
    • “Ай -ай-ай-ай-ай, что сейчас произошло” chat wheel

This is not the only set of updates planned for the game. Players can expect the implementation of Overwatch features. Once it goes live, it will improve the gaming experience.

Many players, however, are likely excited for Update 7.28. The last big update, which was 7.27, went live in June. While gameplay changes are indeed something to look forward to, it’s the potential of a new hero that’s making everyone much excited.

That’s pretty much it for this update. Any thoughts?
