The International 10 already has four Dota 2 teams from China courtesy of a direct invite. Joining them is none other than Elephant, which dominated EHOME in the Grand Final of the China qualifiers.

Elephant may be a relatively new team but its members are far from being new to the game. In fact, they got some of the best players in the region. Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun has been in TI tournaments since 2017. Another member is Lu “Somnus M” Yao, who was part of the LGD team that had top-three finishes in the last two TI’s.

Despite struggling in the first two seasons of the new DPC, Elephant was able to get enough wins to secure an Upper Bracket start for the China qualifiers. Here, they managed to defeat their first two opponents to get a slot for the Upper Bracket Final. However, it was EHOME that sent the team to the Lower Bracket.

The Lower Bracket Final was a rematch against Team MagMa. Like what happened in their first matchup, it was Elephant that came out on top with a 2-0 win. This meant a rematch with EHOME.

Grand Final

Elephant had a good start for the first game. But a disastrous team fight swung in EHOME’s favor and never looked back to get the win.

That didn’t deter Elephant much as it completely dominated EHOME in the second game. Somnus M on Leshrac was too strong and ended the game with 12 kills and 2 deaths. In the third game, it was again Somnus M who showed an excellent performance and this time on Templar Assassin. He ended the game with 12 kills and gave his team a 2-1 lead.

With momentum on their side, Elephant didn’t give EHOME room to breathe. It was again Somnus M leading the team to victory with Eurus contributing as well.

The International

With Elephant now heading to TI10, there are now five teams from China, which is about 30% of the participating teams. For those who haven’t heard, TI10 will be in Romania with the schedule moved to October instead of August. Read about it here.
