With just a day left before the start of the Dota 2 Stockholm Major, OG announced that it was making changes to its roster. Sébastien "Ceb" Debs is joining at position 5 while Johan "N0tail" Sundstein is serving as coach.

OG fans need not worry since no one is leaving the team. In a post on Twitter, the team revealed that the visas of team captain Mikhail "Misha" Agatov and Evgenii "Chuvash" Makarov have been denied. To keep the dream alive, it was decided that some of the veteran players serve as stand-ins. This is a first for the team since the "fathers" are joining the young prodigies.

It was in November 2021 when the team first revealed the new roster, which has been doing pretty good so far. The team finished fourth during Tour 1 of the new season and first during Tour 2. This has led them to be 12th place in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021-22 Rankings. If they retain that spot, they're guaranteed to have a direct invite to this year's TI.

Stepping In

While it's good news that the veteran players are stepping up and helping the new roster, their decision comes off as a bit weird. For example, before joining the roster that would become a two-time champion, Ceb served as OG's coach. At that time, N0tail was the team captain and played at position 5.

The better option would have been for Ceb to serve as the coach and N0tail to be the one joining the roster. So, it would be interesting to see how everything would play out.

Interesting Match-up

Ceb joining the roster as a stand-in is interesting because of who the team is going against. For the Stockholm Major, the groupings are:

  • Group A
    • beastcoast
    • BetBoom Team
    • BOOM Esports
    • Evil Geniuses
    • OG
    • T1
    • Tundra Esports
  • Group B
    • Fnatic
    • Gaimin Gladiators
    • Mind Games
    • Team Liquid
    • Team Spirit
    • Thunder Awaken
    • TSM

Did you see what we mean by an interesting match? OG is going to have a match against Evil Geniuses. Why is that one of the matches to watch? It’s because Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka was signed by EG at position 5. It would be fun to watch how Ceb and JerAx go head-to-head. Who do you think is winning this one?
