By now, there should be no question that the Europe/CIS regions have some of the best teams in Dota 2. In the last tournament update, Team Nigma and OG were both eliminated from the Dota 2 ESL One Germany 2020. Now Team Secret is one loss away from being eliminated as they drop to the Lower Bracket courtesy of mudgolems.
Flexing its muscle
In the first game, mudgolems showed just how good they are as a team by leaving Secret in the dust. However, that’s not what was surprising in this particular game. Adrian "Fata" Trinks of mudgolems, despite playing Position 5, ended the game with the highest number of kills at 12. To be fair though, four mudgolems players had kills higher than their counterparts on Secret.
In the second game, Secret did what they could to even the series and even took the lead early in the game. Sometime later, mudgolems managed to grab the lead and to hold on to it despite losing a team fight. A later team fight would go in mudgolems' favor and they got the win to sweep Secret 2–0.
Nostalgia Factor
While they may have a different roster, it looks like Natus Vincere is starting to get back to form. Despite being almost eliminated in the Group Stage, they’ve been having a rather excellent performance in the Playoffs. First they dropped OG to the Lower Bracket, which resulted in the latter’s elimination.
The next match was against Vikin.gg. In the first game it was pretty much all Na’Vi as Alik "V-Tune" Vorobey on Phantim Assassin stole the whole show. He ended the game with 20 kills and zero deaths. The second game was pretty much like the first. Once again it was V-Tune, and this time the player scored 16 kills and zero deaths on Drow Ranger.
Today’s Matches
Today there are two matches in the Lower Bracket Round 2. The first match is Vikin.gg versus Team Liquid and the second match is Team Secret against Alliance. The losers of the matches are going home while the winners are going to face off against each other.
In the Upper Bracket it’s going to be an interesting match as well with mudgolems going against Na’Vi.
The question now is will the veteran teams be able to crawl out of the lower bracket or is the new generation going to show that it’s now their time?
