It seems like ID Software is bringing back the 90s. After reviving the long-forgotten DOOM franchise, the acclaimed developer will now revive another great franchise. According to Shpeshal Nick, the co-founder of XboxEra, a Quake reboot is in the works and ID Software is helming the development.

The Rumors

Nick made several claims in the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast. The alleged reboot will differ from 2017’s multiplayer-only game, Quake Champions. This one will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes. The main character of the game will be a woman, which is a first for the series.

The Developers

As mentioned above, ID Software will be leading the development. However, they will also receive help from MachineGames, the developer of the rebooted Wolfenstein franchise. As we already know, MachineGames are themselves occupied with Wolfenstein 3 and an untitled Indiana Jones game. It looks like it’s going to be a few busy years for the Swedish developer.

ID Software has proven itself to be a very competent developer. Both DOOM (2016 ) and DOOM Eternal received critical acclaim from fans and critics, and we hope they can carry that success to the Quake IP.

Why DOOM 3 is Not a Good Idea

It looks like DOOM is going to be shelved for the foreseeable future. After wrapping up the story of the DOOM Slayer in The Ancient Gods Part 2, the demon-killing franchise will be taking a rest for a while. It’s probably for the best as we don’t want the concept of slaughtering hordes of demons to become stale.

While We Wait

Do keep in mind that all of these are just rumors. There is no official announcement so take this with a grain of salt. While we wait for the assumed game to be revealed, you can try out Quake Champions. It’s free-to-play and is currently in Early Access. It has also received a positive reception from fans but it’s not a critically acclaimed title, and the game can only be played on PC.

Now can someone please reboot Commander Keen as well.

So what do you think? Are you excited about the rumored Quake Reboot? Do you think ID Software will do justice to the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
