Recently, ID Software invited several game journalists to play a three-hour long Demo of Doom Eternal, a sequel to the highly praised Doom. The reception has been positive, to put it mildly. Doom Eternal is only two months away from release and the demo footage has surfaced online. Check it out below:

After watching the footage we can safely assume that Eternal is bigger in both scope and size than 2016’s Doom. The first three hours of Eternal throw more stuff at us than the entire campaign of the previous game. We have access to the Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, and other weaponry already within the first few hours. Oh, and did I mention the part where you take control of the Revenant. Yep, you read that right. You can control a demon and use it to do your own bidding. In the footage, the Doom Slayer possesses the Revenant, uses it to kill his own brethren, grabs the Super Shotgun, and then blasts the Revenant's face with it. Sounds like our Slayer, alright.

Executive Producer of Doom Eternal Marty Stratton said in an interview that Eternal is twice as big as its predecessor.

“It’s about double the size of Doom 2016. Our levels are bigger than they’ve ever been, we have double the amount of demons and from beginning to end you’re going to experience things that are always new," Stratton told PCGamesN. "I refer to this as sort of the game version of a 'page-turner'… even down to the last boss fight, you’re going to see things that you hadn’t up to that point.”

According to How Long To Beat, 2016 Doom was around 11 hours long. So we can expect to spend over 22 hours cruising through Hell in Doom Eternal. To make the game more interesting, developers have added platforming-type puzzles. When you are tired of the action, you can spend time navigating through puzzles. It’s like a little bit of Uncharted sprinkled all over the game.

Doom Eternal will hit the stores on March 20, 2020, and is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Stadia, with a Switch release coming later in the year.
