This week's State of the Game for The Division 2 talks about the new Pentagon and DARPA Research labs in Episode 2. In addition, Associate Game Director Drew Rechner also revealed that this week's State of the Game also celebrates the wide release of The Division 2's biggest title update yet.

The Division 2 Episode 2 — Pentagon: The Last Castle was launched last week to Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers. For this week, two new main missions have been added which are:

  • Pentagon
    • The Pentagon, headquarters of the US military, has been abandoned shortly after the Green Poison outbreak and has since been ravaged by floods and storms. Following its lockdown, the Black Tusk are the first outside force to enter the complex.
  • DARPA Research Labs
    • Deep underneath the Pentagon, in secret DARPA laboratories, countless assets of immense strategic value remain. The Black Tusk have accessed the complex through the flooded tunnels and are preparing to utilize an abandoned Cold War tunnel network in order to extract vital DARPA prototypes and assets. These assets need to be secured by The Division.

In addition to Episode 2, last week also introduced Title Update 6, which brings with it, among others, extensive changes and improvements to loot, crafting, inventory, and Dark Zones.

According to the development team, they are happy with the community reaction to Episode 2 and Title Update 6. The developers also appreciate the feedback from players and encourage players to submit more feedback.

Community Shout-Out

As a way of thanking community creators, the developers highlighted two specific fan sites that offer useful features for The Division 2 players. The first is Division Builder which allows visitors to theory-craft Division 2 builds, or look at some of the top builds in the game and how they are put together. The second fan site is The Division 2: Weekly Vendor Reset which posts all the weekly vendor reset information. This site is valuable, especially for players who are looking for particular items.

Developer Interview

Rechner, who until recently was lead AI designer on The Division 2, revealed some of the changes and tweaks in TU6. Highlights include:

  • Hard, Challenging and Heroic difficulties have been rebalanced. These include:
    • Putting explosion and bullet damage on par with each other
    • Reducing time to kill
    • Ensuring that enemies don't kill players quite so quickly
  • Some NPCs now elect to lay down covering fire while others rush to cover as quickly as possible.
  • Tank enemies react differently to status effects, ignore flames, fight through shock effects, and recover more quickly.
    • Blinded or confused tanks will attack your last known position.
  • Player Turrets are now more likely to be targeted by enemy NPCs.

TU6 Known Issues

Last week, the development team mentioned some issues related to TU6. Aside from those isses, the team is also working to fix known issues which include:

  • DARPA Research Labs mission progress resets if disconnected.
  • You may get stuck in a loading loop trying to enter the Dark Zones from a checkpoint.
  • Players being unable to teleport to group members in the Pentagon.
  • Your Agent's primary weapon may become invisible, resulting in an animation bug and hit registration issues

Finally, fixes that were introduced this week include:

  • Fixed an issue that prevents loadout swaps with Specializations in certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that prevents interaction with the levers in Kenly Metro.
  • Fixed an issue that causes Operation Dark Hours raid keys to drop in Discovery difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue that causes incorrect backpack trophies to drop in Tidal Basin (Heroic).
  • Fixed an issue that prevents the objective "Lightning Round" at stage 4 of the Technician Special Field Research to trigger.
  • Fixed an issue causing a colored rectangle to appear when opening apparel caches.
  • Removed a prematurely added blueprint from the crafting bench (October Fifth - M249 B LMG).
