Season 17 for Destiny 2 begins this coming Tuesday, and it is going to be a big one. Aside from big weapon meta changes and the return of Rift Mode in PvP, what other changes are coming to you next season? Read further to learn more.

Upcoming Update

In the recent Destiny 2 TWAB, Bungie revealed an upcoming update to be launched alongside the new season. Some highlights include increased vault space and more Strange Coins gained in Dares of Eternity. Power bands have also been increased for the new season.

If you’re always having trouble managing your items due to lack of storage, there’s good news! The upcoming update increases vault space by 100, letting you store a maximum of 600 items (instead of 500) once Season 17 goes live.

In addition, the Strange Coins earned from the reward chest in Dares of Eternity are increased to three. Strange Coins are a currency that can be used to purchase things from the Starhorse, including bounties specific to Dares of Eternity, a random piece of Legendary gear, and a Treasure Key.

The Power Bands have been increased for the new season as well. The power floor, or the lowest power level you can have, still remains at 1,350. However, the soft cap, powerful cap, and hard cap have been increased by 10 across the board. Here’s a rundown:

  • Power Floor: 1,350 (unchanged)
  • Soft Cap: 1,510 (up from 1,500)
  • Powerful Cap: 1,560 (up from 1,550)
  • Hard Cap: 1,570 (up from 1,560)

New Rewards for Trials

Trials of Osiris - the weekly pinnacle PvP event in Destiny 2 - comes back with another Freelance weekend, with Zone Control enabled. If you don’t know what it is yet, Zone Control is a variant of the usual Control game mode in the Crucible.

In this mode, teams cannot earn points by killing opponents or capturing/defending control points. Instead, 10 points are earned every five seconds for each zone they have under control.

This is the last Trials of Osiris weekend for a while, as it will be on a short hiatus. The game’s pinnacle PvP event returns on June 10.

While Trials of Osiris won’t be coming back for at least two weeks after Season 17 starts, there’s still something to look forward to. Aside from new weapons to be included in the Trials pool, new armor sets are also coming to improve your fashion game. A new Ghost Shell and the Falcon’s Chase Sparrow will be up for grabs as well.
