While many thought Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled would be a simple remaster of a classic game for modern consoles, developer Beenox is going all-out to ensure the kart racer is packed with new features, characters, and game modes. The latest announcement for Crash Team Racing is about kart customization.

Like the recent Mario Kart games, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled allows players to create their own vehicles to race with. This means players can swap between different kart bodies, wheels, paint jobs, stickers, and more. These different kart bodies include karts featured in Crash Tag Team Kart Racing. While it hasn't been mentioned if these items have different stats and abilities like the items in Mario Kart, this is still a pretty neat feature to allow players to showcase some personality.

Karts aren't the only thing getting customized in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The trailer also shows different character skins players can unlock to make their favorite characters look different. Finally, players have the option to pick a victory pose that plays at the end of races (assuming you win, of course).

Players can unlock new customization items by playing through the Adventure Mode. Items can also be unlocked by collecting Wumpa Coins during races.

Along with the typical graphical overhaul, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is more-or-less completely rebuilt from the ground up, while still keeping many of the aspects that made Crash Team Racing a hit back on the PS1. There are dozens of new character animations, added details to maps, and even online multiplayer added in. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled also includes all tracks, arenas, and karts from its indirect sequel Crash Nitro Kart.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases for Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on June 21. Be sure to check out our preview of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled to get yourself hyped for release.
