One of the most beloved video game series in the world is reportedly getting a Netflix adaptation soon, with a "Crash Bandicoot" project said to be already under development.
There was a previous plan to adapt "Crash Bandicoot" into a show, but it has been reportedly canceled by Activision and Amazon, the two companies that were said to be attached to the project.
Now, Netflix seems to be at the helm of this new "Crash Bandicoot" project, but it is speculated that its original creator, Naughty Dog, may also be a part of the adaptation.
'Crash Bandicoot' Netflix Adaptation Now In the Works
A new report from the publication What's On Netflix claims that there is an upcoming "Crash Bandicoot" adaptation that is now under development over at Netflix to bring the renowned franchise to the larger screens.
Initially, it was rumored that WildBrain would be producing the show, but a spokesperson for the studio has recently confirmed that they are not involved in the project.
It is expected that this adaptation of "Crash Bandicoot" would be family-friendly, and it drew comparisons to WildBrain's previous series, "Sonic Prime," which also aired on Netflix.
Apart from this, it was reported by TechRadar that the "Crash Bandicoot" adaptation would center on a cartoon-type animation and not a live-action take. This is similar to previous rumors found on Reddit about a "Crash Bandicoot" adaptation that was supposedly set to air on Amazon and was a collaboration between the e-commerce giant and the game's current rights owner, Activision.
Previously, "Crash Bandicoot" appeared on a Netflix show called "Skylander's Academy," which featured the bandicoot in a 3D-style art. However, it was only a guest appearance on the show and was voiced by Eric Rogers.
Will Naughty Dog Be a Part of the Adaptation?
To date, there are still no showrunners, motion graphics actors, voice actors, and the like attached to the "Crash Bandicoot" show adaptation on Netflix, but there are rumors about Naughty Dog's influence on the project.
As of writing, rumors of Naughty Dog's involvement have not been confirmed by anyone attached to the supposed project
TechRadar noted that a previous animated game by Naughty Dog, "Jak and Daxter," was reportedly under development for a movie adaptation that would have Ruben Fleischer as its director. However, talks about this project were last heard in 2022, and no updates have been made since.
This is despite Fleischer previously revealing that Tom Holland, who previously starred as Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted" live-action movie adaptation (a game also from Naughty Dog), was involved in the project.
