A fresh new leak has appeared online featuring a canceled "God of War" game that was supposedly a multiplayer that will bring the franchise back to where it all started, Ancient Greece.

The said multiplayer game was already canceled by Sony earlier this year, and it was alongside another proposed live-service title that would be an open-world military shooter game.

Canceled 'God of War' Multiplayer Leak Photos Online

MP1ST reported that an online leaker has shared screenshots of what could have been a new "God of War" game, but this time, the title would focus on a multiplayer experience for players.

Since the start of the "God of War" franchise, there had been no multiplayer-focused game released by Sony or Sony Sta. Monica as it all focused on the third-person POV single-player experience.

The cancellation was reported in January, with Sony cutting two live-service titles that were assigned to its first-party studios, Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. Bluepoint Games was tasked to work on the "God of War" multiplayer game.

The leaks shared by MP1ST give the world an insider look into the development project of Bluepoint Games, with the screenshots showing off a "what could have been" for the franchise.

While most of the screenshots were of renders of the environments, elements, and different locations in-game, it did not show who would be the main character that players would get to play in this multiplayer title.

Return to Ancient Greece in Canceled 'God of War'

This canceled "God of War" multiplayer title was supposed to mark the return to Ancient Greece for the franchise. The leaked images show off different ancient Greek temples, facades, areas, structures, and more that greatly depict the origins of the franchise.

There were also several artifacts shown in the leaked development screenshots, which further depict its faithful comeback to the Greek peninsula.

According to GameRant's report, the areas shown in the screenshot are potentially likely to accommodate multiplayer action for which the game is meant. Additionally, one specific area revealed by the leaked screenshots was described as "Hades' Armory," pointing to the possibility that the god of the Underworld would be a part of the game, but it was not confirmed by Bluepoint Games or Sony.

Despite this cancellation, there are still "God of War" projects ongoing from Sony, including the live-action series on Amazon Prime Video and the rumored 2D metroidvania title that is in the works.
