The critically acclaimed game by Activision, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was released back in October 2020. The game received a positive reception from both fans and critics that praised the developer’s commitment to original game mechanics.

There was one issue though: Crash Bandicoot 4 was only available on last-gen consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Thankfully, that’s going to change soon. Yesterday, it was announced that CB4 will launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on March 12. You only have to wait for a little over a month to play the game on new consoles.

That’s not all. It was announced that CB4 will also be coming to PC later this year, but no actual release date was revealed. For PC, the game will only be available on Activision’s own platform, Battle.net. So if you wanted to buy it on Steam, well, tough luck.

On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Crash Bandicoot 4 will run on native 4K at 60 FPS. The Xbox Series S version will also run on 4K, however, upscaled. Things are a little different for Switch. The docked mode will run the game on 1080p, whereas, the handheld mode only supports 720p though both versions are locked at 30 FPS.

The developers are offering free next-gen upgrades too. So, if you bought the game on Xbox One or PS4, then you can upgrade to the next-gen version for free. The PC version is expected to feature all visuals enhancements but we'll know more once the release date gets closer.

It’s a surprise that a PC version of CB4 is coming out. The previous game Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was released on every major platform except PC. Who knows, if CB4 does good on PC then maybe Activision will be inclined to finally port the remastered version of CTR to PC as well.

Still, if you are craving for some Crash Bandicoot action on your PC, then get the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which contains remasters of the first three CB games.
