For fans of Commandos 2, there’s some good news as Commandos 2: HD Remaster is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. The wait won’t be that long since Commandos 2: HD Remaster is launching exclusively for this console on December 4. In addition to the full high-definition enhancement, be prepared for revamped tutorials and improved campaign missions. Expect as well optimized support for the Switch Joy-Con and Pro Controllers.

The Commandos series is a stealth-oriented real-time tactics video game franchise, with the first one being 1998's Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. A total of five games had been released in the Commandos series by 2006. The games were mainly released for the PC, though some entries of the franchise had console versions as well. It should be noted that the fifth game, Commandos: Strike Force, was a departure from the traditional formula, and was instead an FPS game. It's not surprising to learn that Strike Force had rather low reviews compared to the previous four games.

Fans of the original series are sure to love the fact that Commandos 2: HD Remaster is indeed a true return to what is considered by many as one of gaming’s classics.

In Commandos 2, players take control of an elite group of Allied commandos. This group must infiltrate and go deep into enemy territory and complete missions by using their combined expertise. The missions themselves are going to be progressively more demanding, which should pose enough challenge to players.

Here are the main features of Commandos 2: HD Remaster:

  • Get to experience the Commandos series in HD for the first time and exclusive for the Switch.
  • Each tutorial and campaign mission has been revamped and has reworked controls along with a modernized UI.
  • Be able to access genuine WWII vehicles, scenarios and weaponry in the likes of tanks and bazookas.
  • Take on a total of 10 missions that span nine day/night environments. All of them come with realistic weather effects.
  • Steal, climb and swim in order to complete missions within fully interactive environments.
  • Play with a wide range of characters that include Green Beret, Sniper, and even Whiskey the dog.
  • Experiment with skills and approaches in challenging and against-the-odds style gameplay.
