It's only just been revealed that the 2019 Call of Duty title will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but now we also know that this upcoming Call of Duty will have something we've never seen before in the Call of Duty franchise: a separate, dedicated campaign designed for cooperative play.
Call of Duty is one of the pioneers behind the first-person shooter genre. While it's never really had a stellar reputation for realism - not with the way recoil is calculated, not with the way damage and health are regenerated - the Call of Duty titles have always been superior in their storytelling, and of course, their PvP online play. With recent entries, however, Call of Duty games have started to shine above others in yet another aspect - cooperative play. Modern Warfare 2 featured the first dedicated co-op mode, allowing players to connect with friends and do a series of missions and challenges. The same system was implemented in Modern Warfare 3, but other Call of Duty series such as Black Ops featured different kinds of cooperative modes such as Zombie Survival.
With the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, however, fans are excited to see how Activision intends to implement their "separate campaign" for co-op. Instead of simply allowing players to experience the single-player campaign in co-op, Activision decided to take it up a notch and craft a completely separate campaign designed with teamplay and cooperation in mind.
The 2019 Call of Duty installment takes the franchise back to one its most popular titles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, instead of being Modern Warfare 4 like most fans anticipated, the upcoming Call of Duty game will be a soft reboot of the the Modern Warfare series. Based on the reveal trailer, we're going to see quite a few of the fan-favorite Modern Warfare characters, including the iconic Captain Price.
