Batman: Return To Arkham won’t be headed to stores late next month, as originally announced by WB Interactive last month. To make matters worse, the publisher says there’s currently no new timeline for Batman: Return To Arkham ’s PS4 and Xbox One debut.

The news emerges less than a month before the upcoming Arkham collection was slated to hit North American retailers and comes courtesy of a new post on the official Batman: Return To Arkham forums. The announcement was relayed by WB Interactive employee Steve Grayson, a moderator on the forums, rather than an official press release. And things must have been looking pretty bad for Virtuous Games, the studio picked to handle remastering duties, because the publisher doesn’t have a new timeline for Batman: Return To Arkham ’s debut.

“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience,” Grayson wrote. “We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

There’s also no word on a possible PC release for the upcoming Arkham bundle. The lack of PC development isn’t exactly shocking, given the numerous issues faced by Batman: Arkham Knight, but still a bit of a disappointment. The PC ports of both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City have always looked better than their console counterparts, we’re fairly confident there are diehard Batman fans out there who would’ve happily spent a few dollars to play even better looking versions of the first two Arkham games.
