Developer Black Isle Studios and publisher Interplay will release Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on July 20. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II is the sequel to the sleeper hit from the same developer and publisher released in December 2021, and is itself one of the standalone spinoffs to the highly popular Baldur’s Gate media franchise. Interplay has also put up a new trailer for Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II which you can check out down below.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II takes after its predecessor, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, in that it is a hack-and-slash isometric dungeon crawler, as opposed to the usual turn-based CRPG combat that the Baldur’s Gate and Dungeons and Dragons are known for. Here’s a brief overview as revealed via its Steam page:

Unspeakable evil has returned to the legendary city of Baldur's Gate in this dungeon-crawling, action RPG fantasy classic. A call for adventurers echoes through the embattled land. Cunning warriors and bold magic users are desperately needed to reclaim Baldur's Gate from a dark sorcery that threatens all in its path.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II will feature five different playable characters and classes, with the game set in dozens of different locations. Players will be able to create their own custom weapons and armor, all the while improving their equipment using runestones and gems. They can experience the new title in four different difficulty options: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme.

The game was first released in 2004 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, making this the second re-release. As a remaster of sorts, it will feature up to 4K resolution on selected platforms as well as local cooperative play for players to enjoy with their friends. Another new feature added is fully verified support for Steam Deck, meaning that you and your friend can play Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II on the gaming handheld seamlessly on launch without compatibility issues. The game will also be fully voice-acted by an all-star cast and will feature two additional secret characters.
