Baldur’s Gate 3 is preparing to release its sixth, and what could be the largest, major patch. Dubbed as Forging the Arcane, it’s going to introduce the new playable Sorcerer class. This new class brings with it a new subclass and new spells.
Sorcerers are said to harness powers from within. Their natural skill in magic also lets them use the signature ability called Metamagic. This ability allows Sorcerers to adapt their spells in combat, like increasing a spell's duration or range. It can even be used alongside other casters, which is sure to result in a fun online multiplayer co-op play.
This new class features two subclasses, each having its own strength, abilities, and visual design. The first one is Wild Magic, Sorcerers who fully embrace chaos and chance. Their ability is Tides of Chaos which gives them an advantage to ability checks, attack rolls, or saving throws.
The second is the Draconic Bloodline. These are Sorcerers whose abilities have been passed down to them as part of their dragon ancestry. Their ability corresponds to the dragon they descended from. For example, those who have Red Dragon ancestry get extra benefits from fire spells.
The new class brings these new spells:
- Horrific Visage
- A new Tadpole Action which makes your enemy bleed and allows the Sorcerer to leech a Sorcery Point off of them.
- Enlarge/Reduce
- This new spell alters the size of a character. It affects their physical stats in the process.
- Chromatic Orb
- A powerful new single-target nuke that allows Sorcerers to hurl a sphere of energy at their foes.
- Cloud of Daggers
- This spell protects the caster and surrounds them in a cloud of flying daggers.
- Crown of Madness
- This spell sends an enemy mad and can cause them to attack nearby allies.
The new class is just one of the many new things arriving with the game’s sixth update. Learn more about the other new content coming here.
