Assassin’s Creed Rogue, the oft-forgotten PS3 and Xbox 360 game released in 2014, may be getting an HD remaster. This information comes from a few Italian websites, and it isn’t yet confirmed from Ubisoft.

These listings aren’t from a single retailer that may have made a mistake. Instead, there are three different sites with Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD listings for Xbox One and PS4. While this doesn’t confirm Ubisoft is working on a remastered version of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, it does make the theory more plausible.

Interestingly, two of the three listings point to a release in mid March. The site ePrice mentions a March 18 release, while Webster.it says Rogue HD will be available on March 15. The third site, reluxshop.it, doesn’t list a release date. All three listings do include a price around € 30, which is roughly $35. This means if Rogue HD is a real game, it will likely sell at a reduced price compared to a new release.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is an interesting entry into the overarching story of the franchise, acting as a link to a number of other games. Rogue serves as a prequel to Assassin’s Creed III, a sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Rogue ’s final mission is a prologue for Assassin’s Creed Unity. For some reason, Rogue was only released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, despite the Xbox One and PS4 having been available for a year prior to the game’s release. This “last-gen only” approach, along with the same-day release of next-gen only Assassin’s Creed Unity, meant many overlooked the story of Irish Assassin Shay Patrick Cormac. An HD rerelease would certainly bring in more players, as well as give Assassin’s Creed Origins fans more gaming goodness to enjoy.

Of course, like any other bit of news not confirmed by a developer or publisher, this could all end up being fake. It would be best to hold off on any anticipation until Ubisoft makes a statement one way or the other.

So what do you think? Would you be interested in playing Assassin’s Creed Rogue on PS4 or Xbox One? What other Assassin’s Creed games would you like to see get the HD treatment? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
