  • New Game+ Mode: A new quest begins after you complete the final story mission. Continue your journey with Bayek while keeping the weapons, outfits and abilities you’ve already collected.
  • Discovery Tour Added: This mode lets users explore the game’s map without fear of enemy attacks. In place of combat and missions, players can learn about the history of the ancient Egypt that inspired the game. The mode is also available as a standalone purchase. Read our impressions here.

This update arrives about one month after the release of The Hidden Ones DLC that brought substantial story content and an increased level cap to the game. Ubisoft has revealed that completing the New Game+ mode offers a secret reward. We won’t discuss it much in this article for the sake of spoilers, but you can learn more about it here. There’s lots of extra content to get through, so only the most dedicated assassins will be able to claim the fabulous prize.

The Discovery Tour marks the first time Ubisoft has attempted to use Assassin’s Creed as an educational tool. The series has maintained relevance by taking creative liberties with history, but the combat-free offering is a nice way to honor a talented group of developers who painstakingly pored over minor details to make Origins’ setting come to life. Beyond this most recent patch, players can also expect more Trials Of The Gods challenges and the zombie-filled Curse Of The Pharaohs DLC in March.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
