If you’re excited to download and play Assassin’s Creed Origins, you might want to start clearing the hard drive space now. While Origins isn’t setting any records for its massive download size, you’ll still need a decent chunk of space free.

According to the Microsoft store, Assassin’s Creed Origins will be 42.3 GB on the Xbox One. File sizes aren’t identical across platforms, but they are usually roughly similar. The PlayStation Store doesn’t have specifics on the file size yet, but the Xbox One listing means PS4 owners will also need a little less than 50 GB free to download and install Origins.

The same Microsoft page also confirms Assassin’s Creed Origins will also be unlocked right at midnight on Oct. 27. No timezone is specified, so this is probably based on local time. This means if you have pre-ordered and preloaded Origins, you’ll be able to start your adventure through ancient Egypt as soon as possible. This will likely also be the case for those playing on a PS4 or PC.

It will be interesting to see the filesize for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of Origins. Both versions of the game have been confirmed to run in 4K at 30 fps. Resolution may dip below 4K to maintain a solid framerate, however. The addition of 4K textures and added effects means the download for both of these versions will be larger than the files needed for standard Xbox One and PS4 consoles.

Based on our early impressions, we here at Player. One are cautiously optimistic for Assassin’s Creed Origins. The new combat system shows some major potential, with enemies attacking differently based on how they are equipped. The year off from development has also given the team enough time to make Origins something special, instead of just another Assassin’s Creed game.

So what do you think? Are you interested in seeing what’s next for the Assassin’s Creed franchise when Origins is released? What era would you like to see the next Assassin’s Creed game set in? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
