Assassin’s Creed is planning to expand its universe beyond the world of games. This expansion is something many fans have surely been waiting for quite some time. The popular franchise will release in different media formats, such as novels, graphic novels, webtoons, manhua, and even podcasts. For those familiar, then you probably have an idea what some of the target markets are going to be, and it’s none other than Korea, Japan, and China.

To give fans better context, the new content will be classified into:

  • Classics: Direct adaptations based on stories from the video games.
  • Chronicles: New adventures featuring favorite iconic Assassins.
  • Originals: New narratives featuring new protagonists and time periods.

In a post, Etienne Bouvier at Ubisoft said that Asia has lots of creators who release innovative content. This is why the company decided to build new relationships with them. Bouvier added that the expansion can give fans new content in formats with which many of them are already familiar.

These are three illustrated fictions scheduled for this year:

  • Assassin’s Creed Fragments Young Adult Trilogy (Originals)
    • This saga features teens caught in the middle of a centuries-old Assassin-Templar feud.
  • Assassin’s Creed The Jade Seal Collection (Originals)
    • This collection brings more stories into the series with 10 novels focused on Chinese history.
  • Assassin’s Creed The Ming Storm (Chronicles)
    • This trilogy is set in China during the 16th century. It features Shao Jun, the same assassin in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.
    • This novel is set to be released on June 1.

Illustrated fictions coming out this year include:

  • Assassin’s Creed Dynasty (Manhua) (Originals)
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Blood Brothers (Manhua) (Chronicles)
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla French Graphic Novel (Chronicles)
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory (Chronicles)
  • Assassin's Creed: Blade of Shao Jun (Chronicles)
  • Assassin’s Creed Turbulence In The Ming Dynasty Podcast (Chronicles)

Fans can also expect some webtoons, under Originals, which serve as a sequel to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and expand the storyline of Edward Kenway even further.
