Ark: Survival Evolved Bringing the Fjordhawk in Next DLC

A new creature dropping in soon.
A new creature dropping in soon. Studio Wildcard

It was just this month when Ark: Survival Evolved released the Lost Island DLC, which featured three new tameable creatures. Looks like everyone needs to do their work a little faster since a new DLC map is already in the works. Titled "Fjordur," this one is coming free and will let players meet the Fjordhawk.

Compared to most creatures introduced, Fjordhawk survived not because of their size, strength, or ferocity. It has used wits and scavenging skills to survive the wild. Helping it is an almost preternatural ability to predict and avoid danger. What they do is follow targets from high above and look for the right moment to swoop in and snatch that easy meal.

Those able to tame Fjordhawks will learn that they're actually playful creatures and that their favorite game is fetching. It may take a bit of patience, but the rewards are incredible. Once trained, players simply need to point to a target and it's going to fly off and retrieve it.

What makes these creatures good companions is that they can bond with humans the same way any primate or canine does. If a player is in bad luck, the Fjordhawk immediately flies off taking as many of the player's belongings as it can carry. But once the player respawns, the Fjordhawk tracks them down and returns their equipment.

More Creatures Coming

The Fjordhawk isn't the only creature arriving in the upcoming DLC. There are other creatures more than ready to make their presence felt. The exciting thing is that players have the chance to decide on one of the creatures. The choices are:

  • Giant Bison
  • Rhyniognatha
  • Titanoceratops
  • Desmodus Draculae
  • Armadillosuchus
  • Carcharodontosaurus
  • Myotragus
  • Bastion Beetle
  • Sivatherium
  • Pyroraptor
