Apex Legends Season 9 Legacy is just around the corner. The new season will release on May 4 and it’s bringing a whole lot of content. Players will get their hands on the new legend Valkyrie who aims to rule the sky. A new permanent mode, Arena, which is a 3v3 mode in small snippets of the maps, is coming. A brand-new weapon, Bocek Bow requiring good precision will also be joining the weapon arsenal. There are tons of other stuff arriving as well.

New Legend Valkyrie

We finally got a good look at Valkyrie with a trailer showing her abilities. She is a perfect legend for quick reposition due to her access to a jetpack, allowing her to fly around the map. Plus, her two squadmates will be able to fly when the ability is used. She has also access to a rocket barrage good for flushing out hiding enemies or softening them up a bit before the main attack. The Character Introduction Trailer is yet to come that will give a closer look at her abilities.

New Mode Arena

After the initial tease, we finally have the official news. Respawn Entertainment is bringing a new permanent mode to Apex Legends but not related to battle royale. It’s a 3v3 mode with multiple rounds and your only objective is to defeat the other team to win the match.

At the start of every round, you will have access to a shop to purchase weapons, abilities, and more. Your purchased items don’t carry over to the next round, however, the money does. So, you can decide to save money for later rounds to get better options.

A random drop will also come mid-round with loot improving in every round. This mode is going to be fun for players who want direct action without waiting.

Bocek Bow

New Weapon Bocek Bow

We finally saw the previously revealed Bocek Bow in action. It’s just like you would expect for a bow-type weapon. It has high damage but demands precision. You can attach a hop-up on it as well and two possible hop-ups are available. The first hop-up, Shatter Caps, divides the arrow into three. It makes the weapon into kind of a shotgun, making it good for close range. The other hop-up is Deadeye’s Temp which decreases the draw time of the arrow, making the firing speed faster. Pick whatever hop-up best suits your play style.

Infested Olympus

Legacy is bringing big changes to the newest map in the game, Olympus. The sci-fi map has been infested by something (zombies or aliens???). The trailer showed the city covered in “roots and natural growth.” What’s that all about? I guess we will have to play and see. I only hope that my favorite World’s Edge is making a return.

New Battle Pass and Ranked Season

Just like any other season, this one will come with a new Battle Pass that features tons of new and awesome cosmetics. We will be getting the Battle Pass trailer in a few days. A new Ranked season is planned as well where you will test your skill with similarly ranked players. Climb the ranks and aim for the Apex Predator rank. I am good with my Gold rank thank you very much.

Platforms

Apex Legends is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. You can play it on Nintendo Switch as well. However, it does have some performance issues on Switch. All four platforms have cross-gen support so you can play with your friends whichever device they use. A mobile version of the game is planned too. You can pre-register for the beta over here.

You can check out the official site for more information about Season 9.
