Still holding on. BioWare

It's been a pretty rough year for Anthem. The game’s one year anniversary has come and gone, but clearly there's no celebration even if BioWare said one was coming. However, don't count Anthem out yet as BioWare continues to make small changes. This time it's all about Patch 1.7.0.

With this patch, Anthem hopes to officially kick off its recurring schedule. The main goal of this schedule is to give players a regular rotation of challenges, store offerings, and content throughout the year.

Specifically, these new additions are what's coming with the latest patch:

  • Challenges
    • Six concurrent, active Daily Challenges that rotate regularly through these categories:
      • Contracts / Legendary Contracts
      • World Events
      • Time Trials
      • Strongholds
      • Creature Kills
      • Gameplay Style
    • Rotating Weekly Meta Challenges:
      • Factions
      • Contracts / Legendary Contracts

    • Seasonal gameplay modes and features have been included in the normal event rotations:
      • Cataclysm Conjunctions

  • Gameplay Inversions
    • A rotating Gameplay Inversion schedule has been madse to coincide with the weekly rotating game modes.
    • Inversions and gameplay modes are scheduled separately in order to create more combinations and support diversity in week-to-week content throughout the year.
  • Coin & Currency awards
    • Coin and Crystals are going to be awarded for Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Challenges.
    • Crystals can be earned and spent at any time.
  • Holidays
    • These are small events based on the yearly calendar that are primarily driven by unique challenges.
    • The challenges run for one to four weeks, depending on the holiday.
    • Some of the larger holidays include changes to the weekly gameplay mode or decorations in Fort Tarsis and the world.

Anthem was released on February 22, 2019, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game had high expectations, but upon launch faced a number of major issues. While the game reported positive sales, it failed to meet the commercial expectations of Electronic Arts. Developer BioWare recently revealed that they are planning on reinventing the core gameplay, which you can read more about here.
