AMD's Got Something Big Coming Next Month

AMD RDNA 2 Rock Paper Shotgun

Nvidia kicked off the month with a very impressive announcement, revealing the RTX 3070, 3080, and 3090 GPUs. However, another big player has yet to make its move, which is when we'll truly know whether Nvidia's offering as worthwhile or not. Yes, we are talking about AMD, and team Red has started to speak up. AMD will be holding a CPU and GPU event on October 8 and October 28, respectively.

The CPU and GPU manufacturing company has announced that it will be revealing its next lineup of Zen 3 Ryzen chipsets and Radeon graphics cards in October.

AMD has to answer to both Nvidia's offerings and Intel's Tiger Lake CPUs, which are coming out next month. AMD will first announce the Zen 3 chipsets on October 8, and the red giant will reveal the RDNA 2 GPUs on October 28.

AMD's Zen 3 iteration will be based on 7nm+ CPU architecture. The Zen 3 chipset will be powering the Ryzen 4000 desktop processors. The upcoming next-gen consoles are expected to be powered by Zen 2 processors, therefore the Zen 3 chipset will be geared toward PC gamers who are looking to upgrade their machines in 2021. Furthermore, the Zen 3 processors are expected to be priced in line with the Zen 2 processors.

The event that's going to take place on October 28 will be solely focused on the AMD RX 6000 RDNA 2 GPUs. The company should also prove how the combination of the upcoming processor and GPU can offer exceptional performance in heavy computational work and, of course, in gaming. Moreover, since Nvidia has touted ray tracing for over two years now, fans are also expecting AMD to showcase how they managed to accomplish hardware ray tracing and, most importantly, what the performance difference between ray traced gaming is on Nvidia and AMD GPUs.

September was an interesting month, and it seems that October is going to be no less exciting. With how things are going right now, everybody would love a little bit of excitement in our isolated lives.
