WIth the Old God N’Zoth unleashed from his prison, an ancient corruption has taken hold of Azeroth. Not to worry, as World of Warcraft is giving players a chance to fight back, whether they be members of the Alliance or the Horde. Indeed, it's time to fight the armies of the Black Empire with a legendary cloak along with corruption-forged weapons.
Legendary Cloak
In order to stand a chance against N’Zoth, players need an object of pure corruption. The good news is that Wrathion, the son of Deathwing, knows where to get one. Players need to work with Black Dragonflight in order to craft and then upgrade Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve. This legendary cloak has the power to stave off the Old God’s influence.
That's right, when wearing this cloak, players can go even deeper into N'Zoth's Horrific Visions and at the same time earn greater rewards and unlock more of the mysteries behind the Old God’s power. The cloak also helps when going against N’Zoth himself in the upcoming raid. It's important to note that the power of the cloak increases as its rank increases. Here's an overview of what the cloak has to offer:
- Rank 1
- Corruption Resistance
- Lets players wear more Corruption gear
- Corruption Resistance
- Rank 6
- On Use Spell Effect
- Dispel any effects of N'zoth's Corruption.
- Become immune to any further Corruption effects for 6 seconds.
- Cooldown: 3 minutes
- On Use Spell Effect
- Rank 12
- Draconian Empowerment (passive)
- Spells and abilities have a chance to increase main stat by 3,500 for 15 seconds.
- Draconian Empowerment (passive)

- Malefic Cores
Max-level players that have unlocked the Heart Forge are able to accept a new quest to start the storyline that rewards this new legendary cloak. For Alliance, the quest is called "An Unwelcome Advisor." For the Horde, it's "Return of the Black Prince."
Corrupted Weapons
If the cloak wasn't enough, weapons and armor that are stained with Corruption could help. Being cursed by N'Zoth, these items offer exceptional power, but it comes at a price. The more corrupted gear worn, the more damage spells inflict. What's the price, then? At low Corruption levels, players take periodic damage, but at higher corruption levels, something evil may come for them at any time. The effect of the Corruption can be controlled with the new legendary cloak and the new Essences.
The legendary cloak and corrupted weapons go live along with the Visions of N’Zoth content update on January 14.
